Linear Shakers

Lab shakers are used for mixing a solution contained in almost any type of laboratory vessel, from microcentrifuge tubes to Petri dishes, and from microtiter plates to conical flasks. Laboratory shakers incorporate a platform which moves either in a circular orbit or in a reciprocating linear movement in which the platform moves back and forth horizontally. The linear action of an linear shaker provides a gentle swirling movement in the sample, and is ideal for requirements such as aeration of a solution. A linear shaker agitates the sample more aggressively, making it ideal for applications such as solvent extractions, or other reactions requiring a complete and urgent mixing of reagents.

Samples are typically placed in a flask which is clamped around the neck and positioned on top of the moving platform. Lab shakers also often have other adaptors which may be used to contain test tubes or vials for mixing. Lab shakers need to be particularly hard-wearing to withstand repeated and often very vigorous use. Scilogex linear laboratory shakers are available in two different sizes, suitable for samples up to a maximum combined weight of 2.5 kg and 7.5 kg, respectively.  The reciprocating linear motion through a range of 10 mm thoroughly mixes samples efficiently and effectively. A wide range of platforms is available, making them ideal for use with culture flasks, Petri dishes, Erlenmeyer flasks, bottles and other vessels. These versatile orbital laboratory shakers operate with a 10-mm diameter linear action, with a shaking speed ranging from 100 rpm to 500 rpm. For even greater convenience, they may be operated either with a timer (capable of functioning continuously for 1199 minutes) or under continuous operation. Free software is also available for PC control and data logging.
